The primary philosophy at Zen Aesthetics reflects the strong belief that the
Homeowner is ultimately responsible for the maintenance and care of his or her home.
To this end, the Zen Consultant helps to focus energies toward the completion of the
proposed project(s).
It would be very easy to ask a few simple questions and then exclude the homeowner
from the process. It is a paramount concern that this does not happen at Zen
Aesthetics. It is also important for the Homeowner to realize the potential of their
home improvements. Thus, the incorporation of what is commonly referred to as "sweat
equity" into the process helps the Homeowner capitalize on his or her resources instead
of paying for the entire labor costs of the project.
It is more important to learn the basic techniques of gardening, landscaping or
organization so that the Homeowner can take over his or her project once a level of
knowledge and expertise is obtained. If this is to be implemented successfully, the
Homeowner and the Consultant must work together as a team.
Although Zen Aesthetics can and does consider projects without homeowner
participation, the main concept does mandate some level of participation. This will result
in either homework being assigned prior to the next stage of development or active
participation while the Consultant is on site.
Zen Aesthetics helps consumers with small and large projects. To this end, the
Homeowner will have to have in mind a budget and time line for completion of the
project(s). All of the details will be worked out between the Consultant and the
Homeowner. Multi-year projects are the norm for most of Zen Aesthetics'
Homeowners. This helps to spread the work out and, of course, the budgeting.
